Ways to democratize the global health system
Karl Heinz Roth, Jochi Weil-Goldstein: Weltgesundheitsorganisation als Neuschöpfung, in: MMS Bulletin, ed. medico international switzerland, No. 110 (November 2008).
In this thesis paper, Karl Heinz Roth (Foundation for Social History of the 20th Century) and Jochi Weil-Goldstein (employee of medico international Switzerland 1981-2012) analysed the structural deficiencies of the global health care system as early as 2008. Health is a public good that must be equally accessible to all people. The poor and underprivileged are increasingly excluded from this existential basic right. The authors discuss the chances of a trend reversal and call for a grassroots democratic alternative. In view of current developments, this seems more urgent than ever.
