The Paul Ehrlich Institute (PEI), as the Federal Institute for Vaccines and Biomedicines, reports on suspected cases of adverse reactions or vaccine complications reported from Germany in temporal relation to vaccination with the mRNA vaccines Comirnaty (BioNTech Manufacturing GmbH) and Spikevax (MODERNA BIOTECH SPAIN, S.L.) and the vector vaccines Vaxzevria (AstraZeneca AB) and COVID-19 Vaccine Janssen for protection against COVID-19 from the start of the vaccination campaign on Dec. 27, 2020, to Nov. 30, 2021. According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), 123,347,849 vaccinations were performed by Nov. 30, 2021, including 96,606,131 vaccinations with Comirnaty, 10,576,131 vaccinations with Spikevax, 12,703,030 vaccinations with
Vaxzevria, and 3,462,557 vaccinations with COVID-19 Vaccine Janssen. 113,792 suspected cases were reported after vaccination with Comirnaty, 28,289 suspected cases after Spikevax, 46,325 suspected cases after Vaxzevria, and 7,758 reports after COVID-19 Vaccine Janssen. In 810 reported suspected cases, the COVID-19 vaccine was not specified. The reporting rate was 1.6 reports per 1,000 vaccine doses for all vaccines combined, and 0.2 reports per 1,000 vaccine doses for serious reactions.
